Jewish Film Club in the lounge

Sunday, February 18, 2024 9 Adar I 5784

5:30 PM - 8:30 PM

The Santa Cruz Jewish Film Club will meet in the lounge at Temple Beth El to view THE LEVYS OF MONTICELLO together on the big screen TV. Then we'll hold a hybrid in-person and Zoom meeting to discuss the film. Bring a box dinner to the event if you like! Coffee, tea, and hot cocoa will be provided.

When Thomas Jefferson died in 1826, he left behind a mountain of personal debt, which forced his heirs to sell his beloved Monticello home and all of its possessions. THE LEVYS OF MONTICELLO is a documentary film that tells the little-known story of the Levy family, which owned and carefully preserved Monticello for nearly a century – far longer than Jefferson or his descendants. The remarkable story of the Levy family also intersects with the rise of antisemitism and Jewish resistance that runs throughout the course of American history.

We look forward to gathering to watch this film together, maybe with a little nosh, followed by a lively discussion, and hope you will join in!

If you can't join in person for the discusion, click here for the Zoom link: https://www.tbeaptos.org/zoom-links.html
