The battle over democracy in Israel did not end on October 7. Now it's entangled with the fate of the hostages and the war in Gaza. Journalist Gershom Gorenberg's will provide a guide to Israel's stormy politics against the backdrop of Israel's ongoing war with Hamas.

Gershom Gorenberg is a rare example of a vanishing breed: an independent journalist who is also an outstanding historian. After graduating from UCSC in 1976, he moved to Israel and began to produce a steady stream of reporting and analysis that has illuminated the complexities of Israeli politics for American readers for nearly half a century. He has also produced four major books, the most recent of which, War of Shadows: Codebreakers, Spies, and the Secret Struggle to Drive the Nazis from the Middle East, is a riveting, best selling contribution to the literature of the Second World War.
