Join us as Elior Amar speaks about the Hamas attack and the current war.  Elior served five years with Israeli military intelligence and will offer his unique perspective on war with Hamas, how Israel was caught off-guard, and what led to the horrific attack by Hamas.  He will provide some historical background about the area as well as touch on the related upswing in antisemitism in the U.S., how this is affecting American Jewry, and what American Jews can do to support Israel.

 Born in Haifa, Elior Amar was the Jewish Agency Israel Fellow at Santa Cruz Hillel from 2019 to 2022.  He served as an intelligence officer in the elite IDF unit 8200 for five years, and completed his bachelor’s degree in education and language teaching.  He currently lives in Austin and works for an Israeli security firm.  Always well organized, informative, and knowledgeable on his subject, he has spoken multiple times for Lifelong Learning on topics related to Israeli politics, LGBT movement, culture, and music.
