Food Drive

High Holiday Food Drive

Each year at this time, the families of our congregation collect food to ease hunger within our own communities. The food goes to Second Harvest Food Bank. Especially during these difficult times, there is a great need for food donations.

Bring Food to High Holiday Services or Directly to the Temple

When you come to services on Rosh Hashanah you can pick up an empty grocery bag or you may fill one of your own bags with items from the list below. Please return the filled bags on Yom Kippur or bring them to the Temple between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur.

Most needed foods:

Canned meat, peanut butter, soups, chili beans, cereal, canned fruit and vegetables, whole grain rice, pasta and oats. Please no glass, perishable, expired, or opened items.

In addition, we are expanding our High Holiday Food Drive to include hygiene products.

Each year, more than 2,500 of our neighbors experiencing homelessness access day services at Housing Matters, including hot showers and bathrooms at the Hygiene Bay. Housing Matters offers towels and toiletries to all of their shower program participants and are able to do so, seven days a week, because of the generous donations of hygiene supplies they receive from community members and local organizations. The Hygiene Bay is currently going through about 400 hygiene kits per month. More than ever, we need your help to make sure the Hygiene Bay is able to meet the needs of our community.

Temple Beth El is a proud partner with Housing Matters. With the Hygiene Bay Program, we can expand our helping hands by providing in travel size the following items:

Shampoo                               Toothpaste

Toothbrush                             Floss

Mouthwash                             Hand sanitizer

Conditioner                             Shaving cream

Razors                                    Body wash (no bar soap, please)

Body lotion

Please drop these items into the bin in the lobby during High Holidays.

Thank You for Your Help to Support Those in Need in Our Community!
