Tashlich
Tashlich is a ritual that takes place during the High Holidays. The word "Tashlich" means "to cast off" in Hebrew, and the ritual involves symbolically casting off whatever one wants to release by throwing pieces of bread or other items into a body of flowing water, such as a river, lake, or ocean.
The practice is based on a verse from the prophet Micah (7:19): "You will cast all their sins into the depths of the sea." By performing Tashlich, individuals express their desire to start the new year with a clean slate, letting go of past mistakes and seeking forgiveness.
We offer three opportunities to participate in this ritual, one for people in the San Lorenzo Valley at Ben Lomond Park, one at Rio Del Mar Beach and one at Natural Bridges Beach.
